FiveBoxes - App Support

FiveBoxes LoginKeyPass

One key to always remember: LoginKeyPass

LoginKeyPass is the only way to access the app and CANNOT BE RECOVERED if lost.

If you forget it, you will lose access to the app. This means files, photos, and videos encrypted with DynamicKeyPass cannot be opened.

However, anything encrypted with PersonalKeyPasses can still be accessed on any device with the FiveBoxes app, as long as you enter the correct PersonalKeyPass

Private Patterns - a piece of magic

It is said that some pictures are worth a thousand words!

We truly believe that most are worth millions of words!

That’s why we use them as ingredients for your DynamicKeyPasses!")

FiveBoxes Keys keeps your data safer

Encryption Keys ans Strategies

DynamicKeyPass

DynamicKeyPasses are randomly created by the FiveBoxes app using your PrivatePatterns.

Only your device knows them, and hints are stored there too. Because of this, you can’t share or recover these keys.

Files encrypted with a DynamicKeyPass can only be opened on the device that encrypted them.

Be careful—if your device breaks, you will lose access to these files.

PersonalKeyPass

PersonalKeyPasses come with the PRO version. They let you pick your own keys to lock your photos, videos, and files. These files can be unlocked on any device with the FiveBoxes app, as long as you enter the right key.

IMPORTANT

Make sure to keep a backup of your important photos, videos, and files in a safe place, ideally offline.

Things like device failure, theft, hacking, or even a software update can sometimes make it impossible to recover encrypted files, and a backup ensures you won’t lose what matters most.

FiveBoxes Encryption page

Encrypt. Anything you want.

Encrypt your data to make unwanted access to your personal and private life almost impossible.

FiveBoxes allows you to encrypt photos and videos from your Photo Library, any file you own, and even a snap photo you take.

Store your encrypted files wherever you want.

Limits apply depending on the app version you are using.

IMPORTANT

After encryption, the unencrypted file is deleted. If you want to keep an unencrypted version, make a copy before encrypting.

For photos and videos from your Photo Library, the device’s OS will ask if you want to delete them. If you choose to delete them, they will still be available in Photos under "Recently Deleted" for 30 days.

FiveBoxes Decryption page

Preview and decrypt. Or simply decrypt.

Trying to achieve a trade-off between simplicity and safety, FiveBoxes allows temporary decryption for preview only.

Also you can permanently decrypt files and save them wherever you want.

Some types of encryption keys allow decryption only on the device that generated them.

IMPORTANT

After decryption, the encrypted file is deleted.

For files encrypted with a PersonalKeyPass, you can make a copy to keep an encrypted version.

For files encrypted with a DynamicKeyPass, decryption is possible only once. After decryption, hints for DynamicKeyPass are deleted, so any copy of the encrypted file cannot be decrypted.

While previewing, a temporary decrypted version is available, and the encrypted file remains intact.

FiveBoxes AlwaysOn

Safety of your data begins with you.

Since hacking and data theft are rewarding activities for attackers, use proper applications designed for specific purposes: keep financial data in banking or wallet applications, and store passwords in dedicated password management applications.

The FiveBoxes application is an extra layer of safety, but you should follow best practices:

- keep your device software up to date, keep your device physically safe,
use a strong password for your device, use biometrics whenever possible,
- don’t reuse passwords across multiple applications,
- protect your device with antivirus software, and
- use secure network connections and a VPN whenever possible.

As encrypted data is simply bytes, a brute-force attack will always eventually succeed, but it may take thousands and thousands of years.
